New Apps: Cards, Find My Friends, iTunes Match

New Apps

At Apple's release event this October, they introduced three new apps: Cards, Find My Friends, and iTunes Match.

Cards enables users to create and mail cards directly from their iPhone or iPod Touch. There are 21 different designs to choose from, including 6 different categories. Categories include thank you cards, holiday cards, birth announcements, birthday cards, and travel cards.

After the user creates the card, Apple prints the card on 100% cotton paper and sends the card, envelope and all. Cards ship for $2.99 to anywhere in the US, and only $4.99 anywhere else. Of course it doesn't stop here. Apple then sends you a push notification the day it is delivered, as long as it ships in the US.

Find My Friends is an app that shows where your family and friends are. Before you get worried about everyone being able to see your location, you can opt to have it not shown, or only shown for an hour or up to a day. It has simple privacy controls and also has parental controls. Parent's are particularly happy about this as it allows them to see where their child is at all times and it allows parent's to monitor who can see their child's location.

iTumes Match allows all of your music and playlists on a Mac to be streamed to an iOS device so that you don't have to sync your entire music library (which would take weeks for some of us). You now can stream it through iCloud. How it works is it scans and matches your iTunes library with what is already in iTunes, the it uploads the remaining songs to iTunes. Your music streams immediately and songs that you listen to the most are stored on your devices. All of this is available for $24.99 a year.
